Commercial landscape management & development — Southeast & Mid-Atlantic

For business owners

You built something that matters.
Let’s build what’s next, together.

A partnership should create more opportunity for your people, stronger capabilities for your customers, and a better company for everyone involved.

Growth with purpose

Getting bigger is not enough.

If the plan were to centralize everything, strip out local leadership, and change what already works, we'd be worse for it. So would your customers.

We partner when coming together creates more opportunity, strengthens both companies, and makes us better.

Not every company is the right fit for us. And we're not the right partner for every owner.

What gets stronger

Local leadership. Stronger support behind it.

Your customers, your people, and your reputation are local. The decisions that shape those things should stay close to the market.

What changes is the support behind you.

  • Recruiting supportMore help finding and hiring great people.
  • Back-office supportFinance, HR, payroll, insurance, and IT support when you need it.
  • More capabilities for your customersIrrigation, water management, hardscape, development, and other services you can bring to existing relationships.
  • Fleet and equipment supportBetter planning, purchasing power, and replacement support.
  • Career development and peer supportMore opportunity for your team and access to leaders across Granite Hills who have faced many of the same challenges.

People are our strongest proof

This is what partnership actually creates.

Current Market Leaders

Joined Granite Hills through acquired-company management teams and were later promoted.

Multiple former owners are still actively involved today in market leadership, business development, corporate support, consulting, and other roles.

Others have successfully transitioned into retirement on their own timeline.

We cannot promise one path for everyone. We can show you what has already happened for the people who came before.

What comes next

What comes next is different for everyone.

A partnership with Granite Hills does not prescribe one path. We want to understand where you want to go and what role makes the most sense next.

Brand & legacy

One company. One team. Built together.

Granite Hills operates as one company, one team, one brand — legacy businesses don't stay separate forever. But that transition is thoughtful, not abrupt. What carries forward is the people, the customer relationships, the reputation, and the leadership that built it.

Granite Hills itself was created when businesses came together. The name was chosen deliberately — “granite” for our North Carolina roots, and for the strength of something built to last. We're not one legacy company absorbing everyone else. We're something we've built together.

Who we partner with

We're specific, on purpose.

Being clear about fit saves everyone months. If most of this sounds like you, the conversation is worth having.

A team-oriented culture

People who back each other up. It's the hardest thing to build and the fastest thing to lose in a bad transaction.

Competitive, goal-driven teams

Organizations that keep score and want to win their market, not coast on legacy accounts.

Southeast or Mid-Atlantic footprint

In or adjacent to our operating regions — the Carolinas, Virginia and the greater Washington, DC market.

Commercial over 80% of revenue

We're a commercial business. Heavy residential mix means our playbook won't transfer cleanly to yours.

Maintenance over 50% of revenue

Recurring maintenance is the foundation. Project-heavy businesses are a harder fit for how we operate.

Not a clean match?

Reach out anyway. We'd rather have a short, honest conversation than have you wonder.

Get in touch

How the process runs

It's never too early to talk.

Some of our strongest relationships develop over years before they become anything more — and that's fine even if they never do. We like knowing good people. Sometimes that turns into a partnership. Nobody on your team or your customer list learns anything until you decide they should.

STEP 01

An introductory call

Thirty minutes, no materials required. We describe how we operate; you describe what you've built and what you're actually trying to solve.

STEP 02

Mutual diligence

You review our financials, structure and references — including partners who joined years ago. We review yours. Under NDA, both directions.

STEP 03

Structure and terms

We put a real structure in front of you: consideration, rollover equity if you want it, your role going forward, and what changes for your team on day one.

STEP 04

Close and integrate

Back-office and recruiting support come online first, because that's where the relief is immediate. Your brand, your people and your customer relationships stay yours.

Straight answers

Straight answers to the questions that matter.

Over time, yes. We are one company, one team, and ultimately one Granite Hills brand. But we do not believe in erasing what you built overnight. Brand transitions should be thoughtful and respectful of your customers, your people, and the reputation you have earned. Your legacy lives on through those relationships, your team, your leadership, and the impact you have on what Granite Hills becomes.

They become part of Granite Hills, with access to a broader organization, more career paths, stronger benefits, recruiting support, development resources, systems, equipment, and an internal network of leaders and peers. We also know opportunity has to be earned. Four of our current market leaders joined us through acquisitions in management roles and were later promoted. Great people should have room to grow.

No. There is no single path. Some former owners continue leading markets, supporting growth, working in business development, consulting, or contributing elsewhere in the company. Others have transitioned successfully into retirement. What comes next depends on what you want, what the business needs, and where we believe you can have the greatest impact. We talk about that openly from the beginning.

Very. Early conversations are handled discreetly and with a small group. We understand that employees, customers, competitors, and others may not need to know you are exploring options. Confidentiality and trust matter from the first conversation forward.

Absolutely not. In fact, some of our best partnerships have developed from relationships built over several years. It is never too early to get to know one another. Sometimes those conversations eventually lead to a partnership. Sometimes they do not. Either way, we value relationships with good people in the industry.

There is no single revenue threshold that determines fit. We care about the quality of the people, the culture, customer relationships, reputation, leadership, service mix, market, and whether the business can make Granite Hills better. The economics still have to make sense, but we are not simply buying revenue.

Strong local leadership is central to how Granite Hills operates. Decisions that affect customers, people, execution, and local reputation should stay close to the market whenever they can. The difference is that local leaders have the resources, people, systems, capital, and peer support of the larger Granite Hills organization behind them.

Some things should get stronger quickly: access to resources, recruiting, benefits, systems, safety, equipment, leadership support, and broader career opportunities. Other things should change thoughtfully over time. We do not believe in disrupting a good business simply to prove it has been integrated.
